Artist Statement: Bill Pack of V12 Enterprise
In my artistic journey, I am captivated by the interplay of light and its transformative power on the world around us. Through my technique known as "Painting with Light," I channel this ethereal beauty into art that evokes wonder and enchantment.
This technique stands at the heart of my work. Through rigorous experimentation, I harness light's potential to craft captivating and emotive compositions. My process involves meticulous attention of exposure, colors, and shapes, transforming automotive design—from classic cars' sleek silhouettes to modern masterpieces—into extraordinary visual narratives. These narratives not only evoke emotions but also ignite the imagination.
With each stroke of light, I aim to uncover the hidden stories and intricate details beneath the surfaces of my subjects. This approach allows me to transcend traditional photography's boundaries, using light as both a brush and a medium. It shapes and sculpts the scene before me, adding depth, drama, and a timeless atmosphere that invites viewers to step into a world where reality and imagination merge.
Each piece I create, whether it's a fine art print or a meticulously crafted art book, is designed to evoke awe and inspire contemplation. My work not only transforms spaces but also serves as a catalyst for deep discussions about the intersections of art and automotive history. I believe art has the power to elevate moods and turn any environment into a sanctuary for the soul. My unique technique of painting with light infuses homes, offices, and personal collections with magic, inviting all who encounter it to embark on a visual journey that transcends the everyday. These discussions often delve into the layered histories of the cars themselves, exploring the emotional and cultural narratives embedded in their designs. These art books and prints become portals to this realm, offering a tangible, immersive experience that complements the ethereal nature of my prints and enriches the viewer’s understanding and appreciation.
Join me in this realm where brushstrokes of illumination breathe life into automotive design, awakening your sense of wonder and curiosity.
PAINTING WITH LIGHT ILLUMINATES MORE THAN FORM AND FUNCTION.
Painting with Light: Revealing the Soul of Automotive Art
Developed and perfected by Bill Pack, an international award-winning photographer, "Painting with Light" is not just a technique—it is an artistic journey that transforms automotive photography into a vivid emotional experience. This method involves a meticulous process where light is sculpted over the subject using a mobile light source during a long-exposure capture. This approach does more than photograph; it paints, using light to chisel and accentuate each curve and line.
Unlike traditional commercial car photography, which often serves as a mere historical record, Painting with Light delves deeper, revealing the emotions and intentions embedded in every design. It’s akin to the dramatic interplay of light and shadow found in Caravaggio’s masterpieces—creating images that are sumptuous and crave-worthy. Each image is a handcrafted celebration of the car’s unique design, emphasizing distinctive sightlines and intricate details.
For those who cherish automobiles, a car is far more than a vehicle; it is a storybearer, a tactile memory of eras encapsulated in leather and metal. It starts with the designer’s vision and grows with each owner, each journey it undertakes, marking it with narratives of time and terrain. Through "Painting with Light," Bill Pack offers automotive enthusiasts—and anyone with an appreciation for design—a profound way to engage with the beauty, essence, and emotional depth of their favored models.
Each piece crafted using this technique is designed not only to captivate but also to ignite discussions about art, the lineage of the automobile, and the symbiotic relationship between form and memory. This unique blend of art and historical narrative invites viewers to explore beyond the visual, engaging with the car as a living, breathing work of art.
